Through Ford Motor Company’s new program called Drive 4 UR Community, which is designed to help raise much-needed funding for local community groups and nonprofit organizations, Academy Ford will raise up to $6,000 for STEMaction programs this Saturday Oct 10th from 9am- 2Pm at Capitol technology University right here in Laurel.
If you’re not familiar with STEMaction here are some of the basics:
Mission: STEMaction ignites and nurtures a lifelong passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through events and activities for youth and their families.
Vision: STEMaction offers gateways to inspiring career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, building the next generation of technology leaders and innovators.
Methodology: STEMaction fosters youth and family participation by providing a progression of STEM programs, events, competitions and workshops. STEMaction builds upon a solid base of FIRST programs in Maryland. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is one of the world’s leading programs for inspiring student interest in technology and engineering. We support the progression of FIRST programs for K-12 students, and are the Maryland Affiliate Partner for the FIRST Tech Challenge and Junior FIRST LEGO League programs.
At our event Academy Ford and Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to STEMaction for every person who takes the wheel and test-drives a new Ford vehicle at Capitol Technology University on Saturday, Oct, 10th. The funds will go toward STEMaction’s robotics teams in the area.
The event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature many vehicles from Ford’s impressive line-up. Dealership staff on site will be able to assist with all Ford vehicles and provide additional information about each vehicle available for test-drive.
